The Outer Rim is funky club jazz unit hailing from Tokyo Japan with members
from The United States, Brazil, France and Japan. The band’s sound is a
blend of jazz, rock, and funk, with elements of ambient and club music.
After releasing their first self titled album in 2008, the band toured
Asia and had their music featured on two internationally released compilation
albums "Super Hard Extra: New School" and "Absolute: Sounds
from Tokyo" as well as a video game arrangement album "No More
Heroes Dark Side". 2009 has been a year of change for The Outer Rim
with the exit of saxophonist Norihiko Hibino and pianist Hakuei Kim. Bassist/
bandleader Jeff Curry and drummer Fujii Nobuaki remain and new members
include Gustavo Anacleto (sax), Hiroya Morooka (keys) and Frederic Viennot
on synth. The band is gearing up for another push booking shows and a new
recording on the horizon.
The Outer Rim はアメリカ合衆国、ブラジル、日本出身のメンバーからなるファンキークラブジャズ・ユニットであり、東京からそのサウンドを世界中に発信している。そのサウンドはジャズ、ロック、ファンク、アンビエント、そしてクラブミュージックとの融合。ファーストアルバムを２００８年にリリースした後、バンドはアジアをツアーする。その後は世界各国にリリースされた二つのコンピレーション・アルバム "Super Hard Extra: New School" 、 "Absolute: Sounds from Tokyo" 、またビデオゲームのアレンジアルバム、"No More Heroes Dark Side"にその楽曲を提供した。２００９年はThe Outer Rimにとって変化の年となった。サックス-日比野則彦、ピアノ-ハクエイ・キムの脱退。現在はサックス-Gustavo Anacletoとキーボード-諸岡ひろやを新たに迎え、ベース/バンドリーダーのジェフ・カリー、ドラムの藤井伸昭の4人で再スタートを切った。バンドは新たにライブやニュー・アルバムのレコーディングなどに邁進していく予定である。 |
